MAN DENIES MURDERING HIS MUM BY REASON OF INSANITY

A JURY has been sworn in for the trial of a 55-year-old man who has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to the murder of his mother at her home three years ago.
Billy Burns, 55, of Arlington Lodge, Tralee, Co Kerry, is charged with murdering Miriam Burns, 75, on a date unknown between August 12 and 15, 2022, both dates inclusive, at an address in Ardshanavooly, Killarney.
Mr Burns was arraigned before the Central Criminal Court yesterday and replied “not guilty by reason of insanity” when the murder charge was put to him.
