Cody: We dug deep to pass a tough test

THE incursion of a Kilcormac-Killoughey supporter, who was subsequently arrested and charged by the Gardaí, sharpened the spotlight on unsavoury scenes at the end of Ballyhale Shamrocks’ 0-25 to 1-18 win over the Offaly club on Sunday.

That incident means that there has been a lot less attention on a high-quality fixture where the Kilkenny champions rubber-stamped their credentials as All-Ireland contenders.

Eoin Cody (above), who scored five points from play in a game where defences on both sides had the upper hand, felt afterwards that the quality of the action on the pitch shouldn't be overlooked.

The Kilkenny star said: “It was a hard-hitting, fair game, I thought there was a lot of lovely hurling. Obviously, Charlie Mitchell put on display, Screeney does what he does, he's a brilliant hurler as well.
