DEPLETED BLACK AND WHITES CAN CAUSE UPSET, SAYS SEZER

- By DAN TOMLINSON

Aidan Sezer has challenged his Hull FC teammates to continue to be the 'bad guys' at Hull KR tomorrow.

The Black and Whites head into the 249th derby as underdogs and written off by most, but that’s a card they haven't minded this year - and especially on the road. In fact, 12 of Hull's 15 victories this season have come away from home.

In terms of Super League, only the league-leading Robins themselves have won more games on their travels. That serves as inspiration for Hull, depleted or not, with Sezer ready to do battle again.

Speaking to the Mail, the FC skipper said: "I think the results speak for themselves this year - every time we've been away, we've performed really well.

"We've then dropped games where we've been pencilled in to win at home, so I think we enjoy being the bad guy. Hopefully, we can be that a bit more this week."

He continued: "We haven't got a win over them in a while; and it will be a hostile atmosphere for us over there, but it’s always a very important fixture for the club and the city, and we know what's at stake. We're only one point outside the six and there are still three games to go, so it's all to play for.

“We have a few casualties, and that’s not ideal, but it’s about who's playing and who's putting on the shirt this week. Hopefully, we can do the club proud."

Knowing derbies are attritional affairs, recent tussles have been about who cracks first. Recently, that’s been Hull, with Rovers looking to suffocate and strangle their opponents before unloading the points.
