'Non-escalatory strikes carried out in Pakistan'

Misri said India's actions were in line with the UNSC's stance on holding the people behind the attack accountable

India's "measured, non-escalatory and proportionate" strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) were a response to the Pahalgam terror attack and aimed at pre-empting and deterring more cross-border assaults, foreign secretary Vikram Misri said on Wednesday.

Misri addressed a media briefing alongside women officers of the Indian Army and Indian Air Force almost nine hours after the strikes on nine sites in Pakistan and PoK that were mostly bases of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), and said New Delhi's actions were in line with the UN Security Council's stance on holding perpetrators, organisers, financiers and sponsors of the Pahalgam attack accountable.
