Glad to see girls being brave on abuse

I READ with interest (April 17, page 16) about young children being brave enough to tell their parents of inappropriate touching by older males, and action being taken against them.

I was in that position, more than 60 years ago, and the response was different.

I was believed by my mother (but father never informed because as my mother said - he'd kill him).

My mother's reaction was utter horror and she forbid me from ever being in this man’s company alone.
