GSK in £1.2bn deal to control vaccines

PHARMA giant GSK today signed a deal worth up to €1.4 billion (£1.2 billion) to take full control of the next generation of Covid and flu vaccines it has been developing in partnership with German firm CureVac.
The final size of the payment depends on sales and the successful development of the drugs. There will be an upfront €400 million and GSK will make more “milestone payments” based on royalties.
The new vaccines have the potential to be in the frontline of any response to new seasonal variations of Covid and will help intensify efforts to produce combined jabs that also protect against regular and avian flu.
