Police officer in hospital after attack at Delft police station leads to arrest of drie suspects
A POLICE officer is lucky to be alive after a shocking axe attack on him outside Delft police station in the early hours of Monday morning.
According to reports, the cop was assisting a robbery victim when he was ambushed by a suspect with a byl. He suffered blows to the head, leaving the officer seriously injured.
With one of their own injured, cops and City of Cape Town officers responded quickly and arrested three suspects - two men and a vrou.
Delft Community Policing Forum (CPF) chairperson Reginald Maart said: "It has been communicated to me as the CPF Chair that the member was on duty, standing outside drinking coffee.
"He was approached by a victim who was robbed on the road.
"He came back and saw this guy standing outside, and he attacked him.
