South Africa is mourning braai legend who opened Gugs to the whole world
THE community of Gugulethu and South Africa at large are mourning the passing of Mzoli Ngcawuzele, 72, the visionary founder and entrepreneur behind the world-renowned restaurant, Mzoli's Place.
Widely known as “Ta Mzo’, Ngcawuzele reportedly passed away at his home following an illness yesterday.
He is celebrated as the man who put Gugulethu on the global map with his iconic shisanyama, which became a vibrant hub for township tourism and culture.
Mzoli’s Place attracted locals from all over the city, tourists from around the globe and celebrities, all while star DJs kept mense jolling and enjoying the perfect chop, pap, wors and chakalaka.
