Only way has got to be up for NHS

THE Conservatives left people worse off and our NHS at breaking point. Labour is getting on with delivering a "Plan for Change", putting more money in people's pockets and getting our NHS on its feet.

This couldn't have been clearer when I was taken to a new A&E unit at the Queen Alexandra hospital in Portsmouth, Hants.

The staff were of the highest quality, and after just 20 hours of treatment, top quality care, and a visit from a respiratory consultant, I was dealt with in double-quick time. This was thanks to the brilliant Wes Streeting and his new approach to healthcare.

It's clear to me that thanks to tough and bold decisions and a health secretary rolling his sleeves up, the NHS is finally on the up.

Geoffrey Brooking, Havant, Hants

If we are serious about saving the NHS, we've got to help to fund it. Maybe some revenue could be generated by charging £5 per day for hospital stays towards food, drinks and medication.

After all, where could you get this plus 24-hour care anywhere else for £35 per week? Obviously under-18s and those on benefits would be exempt, but any extra money into the NHS system would be welcome.
