Fears for UK security after Washington leak exposed air strike plan

SIR Keir Starmer must urgently review intelligence sharing with the US following a “reckless” leak by top officials in Washington, he was told yesterday.

The warning came after a US journalist revealed he had been accidentally added to a group chat on messaging app Signal, which included Donald Trump's national security team discussing plans for a military attack on Yemen.

It included US vice-president JD Vance, defence secretary Pete Hegseth, secretary of state Marco Rubio and national security adviser Mike Waltz.

The journalist, Jeffrey Goldberg editor-in-chief of The Atlantic magazine - said he was in a supermarket car park on March 15 when he realised the messages about the air strikes were real.

Two hours later the US carried them out against Houthi rebels following the group's continued attacks on shipping in the Red Sea an operation in which the UK provided air-to-air refuelling support.
