ELLISE KINGSLEY SAYS SHE WANTS ANSWERS OVER TREATMENT SHE RECEIVED FROM NOW-SUSPENDED SURGEON YEARS AGO AT ADDENBROOKE'S HOSPITAL
A CAMBRIDGESHIRE woman was left unable to walk for long periods of time after surgery carried out by a now-suspended orthopaedic surgeon.
Investigations continue into former Addenbrooke's Hospital surgeon Kuldeep Stohr, a specialist in paediatric surgery.
Ms Stohr was suspended earlier this year from her duties following the treatment of around 800 patients that were “below the expected standard”.
A Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CUH) spokesperson said a “rigorous process” is being carried out to ensure all cases are fully reviewed.
Ellise Kingsley, from Barrington, now 24, was one of these patients.
She had two surgeries carried out on her from age 11 after suffering constant pain in her left foot and ankle.
After an X-ray identified an area of dead tissue, she was told she would need surgery to remove it.
She was referred to Ms Stohr, who was then reportedly known as “one of the best in the business”.
After two operations in 2012 and 2016, Ellise found there to be “little or no improvement”. She was left unable to run or exercise for long periods of time.
Ellise then had rheumatology and physiotherapy sessions in 2017, but these also proved unsuccessful.
She now says her left foot faces inwards, and she does not like to touch the side of it due to numbness and sensitivity.
