AQIS online jihad case: NIA files charge sheet against 5

Allegedly spread extremist ideology of Al-Qaeda in Indian Subcontinent

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against five accused in a Special NIA Court in Gujarat after taking over the case from Gujarat ATS. The accused allegedly spread the extremist ideology of banned terror outfit Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) and incited youth to wage war against India.

The accused are Mohammad Fardeen, Kureshi Sefulla, Mohammad Faique, Zeeshan Ali and Shama Parveen. They've been booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act.

SM used to spread jihad

The accused used Instagram, encrypted groups and other social media platforms to push anti-India narratives, glorify jihad and promote the establishment of a Caliphate based on Sharia law.
