Reimagining Tudor Charm

North Design brought its signature clarity and warmth to this elegant Dublin home, helping its returning owners put their own stamp on the property with thoughtful, personality-led design.

Reimagining Tudor Charm

In South County Dublin, this Tudor-style property sits in one of the area's most scenic seaside suburbs and spans around 4,600 square feet. Lauren Martin, Co-founder and Director of North Design, explains, ‘The house itself was in solid condition when our clients bought it thanks to some updates done by the previous owner, but they were keen to boost its energy efficiency and, more importantly, make it their own.’

The clients, a family returning to Ireland from the U.S., wanted their new home to reflect their lifestyle and taste. “They were planning on moving home and wanted a fresh start for their family back in Ireland,’ says Lauren.

Initial planning began in 2022, but construction was delayed until February 2024. The team completed the renovation just in time for the family’s return that September. With the clients still living in the U.S. for most of the build, North Design handled the project through frequent Zoom check-ins, weekly site photo updates, and milestone trips from the owners.

“This wasn’t our first time working with international clients, so we already had efficient systems in place to keep things running smoothly from afar,’ says Lauren. ‘They did fly over for key milestones like sample reviews and walkthroughs.”

‘The process started with a detailed brief exploring how the family lived and their stylistic preferences. ‘They shared inspiration images with us, which helped shape the overall vision for the home,’ Lauren recalls. ‘These clients were truly a joy to work with. They were collaborative, trusting, and really appreciative of the process.’
