THE SINGER’S FAMILY STILL MOURN AND CELEBRATE THE ICON THEY CALLED THEIR DAUGHTER, SISTER AND WIFE
1. "She was the star," Abraham Quintanilla Jr.
says of his daughter (as a young girl) in the film.
2. "I would love to take all the credit for the success, but I think it's the work of a team," Selena (with her dad and siblings ca. 1977) said in an interview.
3. Selena (performing with her band in the early '90s) often designed the outfits the band wore onstage.
4. Selena won her first Grammy in 1994. The following year she received a best Mexican American album nomination for Amor Prohibido.
“I had a dream the other night,” says Chris Pérez, husband of the late, beloved singer-songwriter Selena Quintanilla, during an interview with People. “It was Selena, her sister Suzette and me, and we were in a backstage dressing room.
They were in one corner of the room laughing so hard—the way only the two of them could—and it was almost like nothing had happened. I wanted her to talk to me, but I didn’t dream long enough for her to come back over here.” For Pérez, 56, the recurring dream is a welcome escape and a bittersweet reminder of the reality that Selena, who was shot and killed in Corpus Christi, Texas, on March 31, 1995, at age 23, has now been gone for 30 years.
Simply Unforgettable "There are a lot of talented people out there, but she just had something special," says Chris Pérez of his wife, Selena. Inset: Selena's brother A.B. Quintanilla III; her parents, Marcella and Abraham Quintanilla; and sister Suzette Quintanilla in 2019.Denne historien er fra November 24, 2025-utgaven av People US.
