I dette nummeret

August is a special month for the Dominican family as the feast of their founder St Dominic is celebrated on the eighth. In honour of this, the cover of Saint Martin Magazine shows a beautiful stained-glass depiction of the saint which can be seen in St Saviour’s Church, in Dublin. In his Editorial, Fr John Walsh OP looks at how we can take great comfort form Dominic’s last words; “Do not weep for me, for in death I will be closer to you than in life.” In Lesser-known Pilgrimage Sites, we are brought closer to home when Ray Hughes visits the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham in Norfolk, which is fondly known as “England’s Nazareth.” St Rita of Cascia is the first person in the series on Married Saints to have experienced an unhappy marriage, which she survived through patience and prayer. For Echoes Pat Hope begins a two-part series on the history of agriculture. It Happened This Month details the life and career of that quintessentially English writer for children, Enid Blyton. Dom Aelred Magee OCSO has a very interesting article on how Sacred Scripture has sharpened our awareness about the sign and power of water. On 7 September Blessed Pier Giogio Frassati will be canonized by Pope Leo and to celebrate this special event we have some lovely offers of prayer cards, candles and a framed picture. This “Man of the Eight Beatitudes” as he was described by Pope St John Paul is truly a saint for our time and packed a lot of living into his short and fascinating life.

St Martin Magazine Description:

St Martin Apostolate has published our monthly St. Martin Magazine in Ireland since 1952. A wonderful magazine for Catholics around the world. Our magazine is packed with articles to help develop your understanding and your faith.

Included are articles on all aspects of life, news and views on important world events, helpful tips and articles for life, home and the garden. In short, it is a worthwhile easy-to-read magazine that millions of readers have enjoyed over the past decades.

We publish the magazine to promote devotion to St. Martin, to encourage people in the practice of their faith and to generate funds for our mission of bringing the word of God to as many people as possible.
