I dette nummeret

Four years of committed preparation, four years of determined training and four years of precise planning have come to a close and Australia has rounded out another Olympic campaign. Although Rio was the first time since the sport’s introduction to the Olympics that we haven’t claimed a medal, it was far from a disaster. Aaron Royle (ninth), Ryan Bailie (10th) and Emma Moffatt (sixth) all finished in the top 10 while Erin Densham wasn’t far off the pace in 12th. Realistically, we were an outside shot of a medal at Fort Copacabana, so these returns are definitely worth celebrating. It might not be the last time we applaud the Rio experience either, as it could very well set the framework for podium success in four years’ time in Tokyo. Royle, Bailie, Ryan Fisher and Ash Gentle will all be better for the experience and can hopefully use their Olympic debuts as platforms to spring into the future. Throw in the likes of Jake Birtwhistle and Charlotte McShane and Australia will no doubt have a strong tri squad to boast in 2020.

But from one major event to another, in this edition we review the fallout from the Olympics and then look ahead to Hawaii in our Kona-themed edition. The content in this particular issue has been tailored to help, inspire and motivate you in taking on Ironman’s pinnacle race. From conquering Hawi to braving the elements, the October edition of Triathlon & Multisport Magazine has got you covered for Kona. We also chat to two of our Aussie hopefuls in Tim Van Berkel (Ironman Cairns champion) and Pete Jacobs (Ironman World Championship winner in 2012) ahead of this year’s installment.
