We were recently residents in Los Angeles for a couple of weeks, living in an apartment with the executive wife absent most of the time working, while I stayed home and occasionally ventured out and pretended I was a local. Which worked for maybe a breath, so I gave up and made like a tourist.

But it was so hot in the heart of that city, I stayed home quite a lot and took in the view from the balcony. The days whizzed by and even though I liked being there, it wasn't really that hard to pack up and head home at the end.
