Jordan Gogos landed on the Australian fashion scene like Dorothy arriving in Oz. Not only was his fashion week debut a technicolor awakening in a world of muted tones, it also seemed as though his 2021 crash-landing took even him by surprise. A furniture designer and artist at heart, Gogos didn't pursue fashion domination. Instead, it was the shock result of a hurricane of creative momentum. "My show was the first show I went to at Australian fashion week,” he says incredulously.
Almost a year later Gogos held his sophomore show on a runway of his own making at Sydney’s Powerhouse Museum for Afterpay Australian Fashion Week 2022. The moment he danced out onto the runway – with fashion’s good witch, Jenny Kee bopping alongside him – the designer’s “not in Kansas anymore” status was secured.
