A WOMAN has described the moment Joanne Penney came back from answering the door and told her “I've been shot’:
Joanne Penney was shot dead as she opened the door of a house on March 9 this year
She also described seeing a gunshot wound which passed through Ms Penney’s chest.
The 40-year-old was shot in the chest at close range when she opened the front door of a house in Llys Illtyd in Talbot Green on March 9 this year. She was pronounced dead just moments later.
The prosecution say the killing was part of a “clash” between rival criminal gangs involved in a turf war over drugs.
Last Thursday, Marcus Huntley, 21, of Orchard Park, St Mellons, Cardiff, pleaded guilty to murdering Ms Penney on day two of the trial at Cardiff Crown Court.
Jordan Mills-Smith, 33, of Bryn Celyn, Pentwyn, Cardiff; Joshua Gordon, 27, of London Road, Oadby, Leicestershire; Kristina Ginova, 21, of London Road, Oadby, Leicestershire; Melissa Quailey-Dashper, 40, of Cordelia Close, Leicester; and Tony Porter, 68, of Burdet Close, Braunstone Town, Leicestershire, all deny murder.
Yesterday, the jury were played a video interview with Jade Williams, who was present at 10 Llys Illtyd when Ms Penney was shot.
When asked what had happened, Ms Williams said: “Well, I was sitting on the sofa, the door went. None of us got up to answer it quickly. Jo got up to answer and came back and said she had been shot.
“She had her hands like this (gestures with hands over her chest) and she went to Suzanne. She died on Suzanne I think, you know.
