Kelly and family joined festive run to help a charity that helped them

FESTIVE fancy dress, jingling bells and bighearted joggers came together for a charity run in aid of Hospiscare - raising over £20,000 to support end-of-life care across Devon.

More than 500 participants, including toddlers, seasoned runners and dogs in costume, took part in the first-ever Jingle Jog at Greendale Farm Shop near Exeter.

And one Mid Devon family had an extra special reason to join the runners pounding the paths for a good cause.

For Kelly Land, her three daughters and wider family, every step was taken in memory of her husband Simon. The 37-year-old electrician from Tiverton died at the hospice last year after being diagnosed with bowel cancer.

Kelly said: “It was a challenge for those little legs of Simon’s girls, and his nieces and nephew, but we were determined to give it our all and help give the gift of care to others, as we know Simon always gave his all to others.”

Simon's family chose to support the event as a way to give back for the care he received in his final days.
