Clashes erupt between BJP and Trinamul supporters at AC local train launch in Dum Dum

The launch of a new air-conditioned local train service between Sealdah and Ranaghat turned violent on Sunday when supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and West Bengal's ruling Trinamul Congress (TMC) clashed at Dum Dum railway station.
Tensions escalated as the train - carrying Union Minister and former BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar, along with BJP MPs Shantanu Thakur and Jagannath Sarkar - arrived at Dum Dum. Majumdar, who had earlier flagged off the train at Sealdah station, was met by TMC-affiliated INTTUC supporters waving party flags and chanting "Go back" slogans.
