50 Years of Salt Lake Point School Celebrated with Cultural Extravaganza

Salt Lake Point School celebrated its golden jubilee by organising a two-day function at the Eastern Zonal Cultural Council (EZCC) auditorium on 15 and 16 August.

The Golden Jubilee function witnessed vibrant talent and creativity, and the immense potential of the students. The programme started with a soulful performance of the Surya Vandana, where the performers paid homage to the Sun God. A dance drama titled Jagoron on Bengal renaissance captured the audience, and there was thundering applause when the show ended.

There was a show on the lives and achievements of Acharya PC Roy, Radhanath Sikdar, and former Indian President APJ Abdul Kalam, who is popularly known as the Missile Man of India. Radhanath Sikdar had measured the height of Mount Everest accurately by using his knowledge of Trigonometry. He was severely criticised by the English scholars who said that it was his figment of imagination. But Sikdar carried on with his scheme, and finally those who had criticised him accepted his findings. A brilliant student, Sikdar, came in contact with Henry Louis Vivian Derozio and became a member of Young Bengal.
