The bigger crime and the proponents

The Philippine Star

No matter how long the march, marriage or death, it all begins and ends in church. That's a translation of a Filipino saying that many things in life have a final destination.

The bigger crime and the proponents

We can only hope that the same will be said for every Filipino’s quest for justice regarding the DPWH ghost projects and a trillion pesos of stolen taxpayers’ money. May all the proponents land in jail.

But in order for that to happen, each and every one of us now has to actively push and publicly pressure those who have been tasked or have taken upon themselves the right to investigate the matter.

With this in mind, we must all call out the officials of the Department of Justice, the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI), Senate and Congress to explain why all of them insist on hunting and pounding the small fry and government bureaucrats but not the bigger crime and criminals.

Yes, the DPWH ghost projects will amount to P1 trillion or at least billions of stolen money due to graft and corruption. But none of this would have materialized without the orchestration of members of Congress and the Senate, a.k.a "The Proponents."

As crooked and as corrupt as the DPWH bureaucrats may be, they are at the level or position where they would risk imprisonment and job security to even attempt or suggest the kind of crime they committed with members of Congress or Senate, a.k.a. The Proponents.

The perfect example of how it could go wrong is what happened between the DPWH engineer in Batangas who brought a bag of cash to Congressman Leandro Leviste. The engineer claims he was pressured; Leviste claims he was being bribed.
