Megaworld's La Victoria: A Landmark of History and Progress
The Philippine Star
|August 01, 2025
This heritage-inspired tower stands as proof of rising demand in Mactan Newtown, blending historical pride with real estate success.
Property Report joined a media tour of La Victoria Global Residences at The Mactan Newtown—Megaworld's flagship township in Lapu-Lapu City that continues to shape the future of Cebu real estate.
Over the years, Megaworld has transformed this 30-hectare township into a full-scale destination. With residential towers, office spaces, hotels, beach access, and soon, cultural and convention hubs, The Mactan Newtown reflects long-term planning and high standards.
Among its many residential developments is La Victoria—a property that doesn't just offer a home, but honors a cultural legacy rooted in place and pride.
A Living Tribute to Heritage
Located just minutes from the Mactan Shrine, La Victoria pays homage to the famed Battle of Mactan and the Galleon Victoria—the only ship from Magellan's fleet to complete the first circumnavigation of the globe.
That sense of history is built into the design. The 20-story tower features Spanish-inspired architectural details, with classical moldings and arched motifs along the facade.
At the entrance, the inclusive years of the galleon's journey are inscribed just below the building's name, anchoring the development in a specific and symbolic moment in history.
Inside, the grand lobby sets the tone: patterned wood accents evoke the warm interiors of a ship, while large-scale artworks reinterpret maps, nature, and nautical elements.
