Central Govts Repeatedly Reject TN's Aid Requests

REVENUE Minister K.K.S.S.R. Ramachandran on Thursday charged that irrespective of which party is ruling Tamil Nadu, the central government has been ignoring the state's requests for financial assistance to cope with the losses caused by natural disasters.
Replying to the discussion on the demands for grants for the revenue department in the Assembly on Thursday, the minister said, "During the 10-year AIADMK rule, ₹1,46,662 crore was sought as central assistance, but only ₹6,687 crore was allocated. Similarly, during the past four years of the DMK government, ₹50,924 crore has been sought as assistance. However, the centre granted a meagre ₹629 crore. The centre is receiving from us and keeping an account for that, but does not provide us any financial assist
