1 Dead in Fresh Violence in Kuki-Dominated Churachandpur District

A 53-year-old man died on Tuesday night as fresh violence broke out between Hmar and Zomi tribals in Manipur's Kuki-dominated Churachandpur district.
The deceased has been identified as Lalropui Pakhumate, a Hmar. He was rushed to a hospital after being hit by a bullet, but he was declared dead there. More people were reportedly injured in the violence, and the security forces had to use force to restore order in the region.
The violence broke out on the outskirts of Churachandpur after the Hmar community took exception to a Zomi group hoisting its community flag.
