Rare trapdoor spider spotted in Gubbi by U-K based expert

A Uttara Kannada-based biodiversity expert, Manjunath S Nayak, who resides in Gadag, has made a puzzling finding – a trapdoor spider – a very rare species in a residential area of Muganahunse village in Gubbi taluk of Tumakuru district.
A tiny spider sighting has thrilled experts as the 1.5-inch to 2-inch spider, known as trapdoor spider, is rarest among the spider species, as sighting them is highly difficult. Normally being sighted in the Western Ghats and coastal regions, this species has been reported from the drier area of Tumakuru during a research earlier this week.
