WITH heavy inflow from Kabini and KRS dams in Karnataka and continued rain in the catchment areas, major dams in Tamil Nadu are rapidly filling, bringing joy to farmers.
On Monday, the water level in Hogenakkal reached 1.25 lakh cusecs, with inflow expected to rise further in the coming days. This surge in inflow from Karnataka resulted in the Mettur Dam reaching its full capacity of 120 feet for the fourth time this year, on July 25. Currently, over one lakh cusecs of water is being discharged into the river due to the continued heavy upstream water flow.
