Ouano orders city-wide cleanup, vows better lighting for Mandaue

Mayor Thadeo Jovito “Jonkie” Ouano has ordered the immediate removal of posters and other materials from public areas as part of his first directive aimed at cleaning up the city and enhancing its overall appearance.
“Nakit-an man gud nako sa sige nato og suroy-suroy daghan kaayo og mga tarpaulin gani,” Ouano said in an interview with reporters.
The mayor said the directive applies to all materials—regardless of whether they were from his allies during the 2025 midterm elections or not.
He also ordered the removal of old, faded posters from private companies that have long been left unattended in public spaces.
