Overwhelm table toppers DC by eights wickets with 3 balls to spare
RCB ARE WPL CHAMPIONS

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) beat Delhi Capitals by eight wickets to clinch their first ever Women's Premier League (WPL) title at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Sunday.

Chasing a paltry 114 for victory, RCB cruised to victory scoring 115/2 in 19.3 overs in the final over with Ellyse Perry (35) and Richa Ghosh (17) leading them to title triumph. Ghosh struck a four to finish things off in style for RCB.

This is also RCB's first-ever title as a franchise with the men not having won an IPL title ever: Delhi Capitals lost the plot against Royal Challengers Bangalore spinners after a flying start.

DC were cruising at 64 for no loss in 43 balls before they committed harakiri, losing 10 wickets for just 49 runs in front of a 28,781 capacity crowd, who looked divided in their loyalties.

Australia's left-arm spinner Sophie Molineux (3/20) started DC's downfall, picking up three wickets in the eighth over.

Thereafter, the hosts never really recovered, losing wickets at regular intervals, cour tesy some loose shots and offspinner Shreyanka Patil's (4/12) exploits in the middle and late overs hastened their end.

Opting to bat, DC skipper Meg Lanning (23 off 23) and Shafali Verma (44 off 27) looked in a different world as they upped the tempo in a linear fashion.
