Chhattisgarh government has decided to give an assistance of 5 lakh to the families of the deceased and thousand to those injured in the accident.
50 The accident took place near Bahpani village in Kawardha area when the tribals were returning home after plucking tendu leaves. The impact of the accident was so severe that 13 of the victims died on the spot. All these people were residents of Semhara village.
President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have expressed grief over the accident. The President tweeted, "Tthe news of death of many people in a road accident in Kabirdham district of Chhattisgarh is extremely sad. I express my deepest condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in this accident. I wish for the speedy recovery of the injured people."
