Last rites of Ankita Bhandari were performed at NIT Ghat near Alakhnanda river in Srinagar, Pauri Garhwal on Sunday evening.
Ankita cremated; tensions run high

Ankita was allegedly murdered by Pulkit Arya, son of now expelled BJP leader Vinod Arya. Pulkit and two of his accomplices were arrested on Friday Earlier in the day, the locals blocked the Badrinath Rishikesh highway area in front of the base hospital where Ankita's remains were kept. The administration team tried clearing the jam caused due to the barricading.

The masses demanded the post-mortem report of the deceased and capital punishment for the culprits.

Her father had refused to conduct her last rites until the final postmortem details were out, even as a preliminary report said she died due to drowning.
