A man was arrested in Madhya Pradesh's Chhattarpur for allegedly giving death threats to self-styled godman Dhirendra Shastri, also known as Bageshwar Dham Sarkar, police said on Tuesday.
Early today, Shastri received the threats over the phone, the police said. The accused was identified as Aman Singh, they said, adding he was unable to meet Shastri and hence "done such Dhirendra Shastri a thing."
"The accused has been suffering from some problem and wanted to meet Maharaj Ji, but hasn't been able to talk to him for a long time. This is the reason the accused has done such a thing," SP Sachin Sharma said.
He said a case has been registered against the accused under section 506, 507 of the Indian Penal Code.
