FORM: ARISTOTLE, MUSICAL SCORE AND BUFFALO STORM CODY STAND OUT AT TURFFONTEIN
After more than a week that has seen racing on the Highveld continually abandoned due to rain and a waterlogged course and racing in Cape Town also losing a couple of meetings, it will be great to get back into the saddle once again this weekend.
Racing tomorrow takes place at Turffontein on the Standside track and there will be a nine-race card to preview.
The headliner on the card is Race 7, the Non-Black Type Mythical Flight Sprint over 1100m.
I am not riding at the Turffontein meeting because I am engaged to ride at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on the day, but we will still be focusing on the Turffontein card.
Race 1 is a Juvenile Plate for fillies over 1160m and it is essential to watch the betting and the canter past for the best guide to the chances of the unraced runners as there are some beautifully bred horses.
Of the raced runners, Littlemisssplendid is the filly who sets the standard. She ran a lovely race on debut and then followed up with a convincing win.
With further natural improvement, another massive run can be expected.
Back From War was outclassed in a feature race last time out but her form prior to that was very good and she is the main danger with the ease in grade.
Red Caramel is in good form but I'm slightly concerned by the step up in trip, even though she has the ability to run into the money.
Race 2 is a Graduation Plate over 1400m and Aristotle was unlucky not to have gained another win last time out. With some luck in running, he is going to prove to be a hard horse to beat this time.
My only concern is the drop back in trip but if that's what he is looking for, then he is the best bet on the card.
Gimmeanotherchance was once again very disappointing in his latest start but this is a drop in class and off a decent draw, he is the main danger if he returns to his best form.

It feels silly to even suggest this, but based on the performances of the country's strong spin bowling contingent, Keshav Maharaj's place in the national Test team might be in danger.
