Srinagar shines as G20 showcases heritage and modernity

In a notable display of India’s commitment to global responsibility, Union Minister Jitendra Singh emphasised the significance of hosting the G20 meeting in Srinagar. Singh, the Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, described Srinagar as a city that seamlessly blends traditional heritage with modern infrastructure and cutting-edge technology. His remarks came during the inaugural session of the third tourism working group meeting of the G20 countries held at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC).

Singh expressed India’s readiness to share the global responsibility in areas such as the economy, environment, and society. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is keenly aware of its place in the global world, he stated. Singh emphasised that India’s challenges, concerns, and benchmarks extend beyond national boundaries, and its growth should be viewed through a global lens.

Climate challenges were also a major focus of Singh’s address. He highlighted Modi’s concerns about the environment and India’s commitment to achieving a net-zero target by 2070. Singh further underscored that hosting the G20 event in Srinagar showcased the city’s remarkable blend of traditional heritage and cutting-edge infrastructure.
