Ups and downs for Ward-Prowse as he reaches 400 Prem appearances while still eyeing free-kick record

- James Pallatt

WEST HAM midfielder James Ward-Prowse is hoping to end the campaign in style after admitting he has not had “the best season”.

Ward-Prowse joined today’s opponents Nottingham Forest on a season-long loan from the Hammers back in September, but was recalled from the City Ground in February having played just nine times for the Reds in the Premier League.

He has played 12 times in the top flight since returning to West Ham under Graham Potter and is set to face Forest at the London Stadium this afternoon.

Reflecting on reaching a landmark 400 Premier League appearances, Ward-Prowse said: “It’s not been the best season for me personally, but one big positive has been making my 400th Premier League appearance.

“It's something my family have been big on in particular, and they let me know about it in the lead-up to the Brighton game.
