Community share offer targets £230k as locals hope to reopen derelict hotel

A MUCH-LOVED but long neglected hotel has opened its community share offer after it was granted a Levelling Up fund of £520,000 in March.

The campaign to revive Great Torrington’s Globe Hotel is off to a strong start, with more than £18,000 pledged within 24 hours of the community share offer being launched on May 13.

The hotel secured a £520,000 investment as part of the Government’s Community Regeneration Partnership scheme, administered by Torridge District Council. The funds will be released once the building is purchased by the community through the share offer.

The Globe project aims to transform the empty historic hotel into a vibrant, modern space with high quality accommodation, a new restaurant and bar, and around 20 year-round jobs.
