Doctor Strange and his multiverse got to lin-ger a little longer atop the weekend box office as Tom Cruise and ‘Top Gun’ wait in the wings. Marvel’s ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ was the top-earning film of the weekend for the third straight week, bringing in 31.6 million dollars in 4,534 North American theaters, according to studio estimates released on May 22.
It finished on May 22 with 803.2 million dollars in worldwide ticket sales. This makes it the number two Hollywood film of the pandemic era behind ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ (1.89 billion dollars). It had earlier surpassed ‘No Time to Die’ (774.2 million dollars) and ‘The Batman’ (768.5 million dollars).
