Hit to Liveline figures after Duffy's exit

RTE Radio 1 is the most popular radio station in Ireland, with 1.3 million tuning in each week - but Liveline's audience has dropped.

- BY DANNY DE VAAL

The latest stats come after Joe Duffy departed the Radio One show and just a day before his successor Kieran Cuddihy is interviewed on The Late Late Show before taking the reins.

Liveline lost 20,000 listeners in the latest figures released by the Joint National Listenership Research (JNLR), which has seen its audience drop to 279,000.

The JNLR figures also showed that Sunday With Miriam gained 20,000 listeners, bringing its weekly reach to 337,000.

It also emerged that, despite Radio 1 remaining the most listened-to station, its market share among 35-to 54-year-olds was slightly down compared with the last survey.
