DELANEY LOSES IN LEGAL COSTS FIGHT

EX-FAI chief John Delaney faces a six-figure bill after being ordered to pay the bulk of the costs of his failed effort to claim privilege over documents seized by the corporate watchdog.

Ms Justice Leonie Reynolds granted most of the costs of the prolonged hearings to the Office of the Director of Corporate Enforcement.

She also granted costs against Delaney in relation to his separate failed application to have the issue heard in private as he claimed it could affect family law proceedings.

Solicitor Simon McAleese, on behalf of the Sunday Times, which had objected to the in-camera application, urged the judge to grant his client’s costs as the court had pointed out at the time that the application was premature.
