The captain led by example as he shot ten points, five from play, to mark Moycullen’s first game in the provincial series in style.

Westport could find no answer to Conneely’s class, while Moycullen’s pace and power all over the field was also too hot for the first-time Mayo champs to handle.

The winners were seven points clear at the interval and they powered on to victory.

Westport did score a sensational early goal from Brian McDermott to take the lead, but once Moycullen got into their stride, there was only one winner.
