Sligo ace out to deliver another night to remember - just like Rosenborg in 2014

DAVID CAWLEY wants Sligo Rovers to invoke the spirit of Trondheim in 2014 when they take on Motherwell in tonight’s Conference League clash at Fir Park.

The Bit O’ Red lived dangerously against Bala Town in last week’s Showgrounds’ first qualifying round second leg before squeezing through 4-3 on penalties when the Welsh team’s 1-0 win in 90 minutes earned them a 2-2 aggregate draw.

However, the 2-1 victory for Sligo in the opening 90 minutes was their second such win away from home in three European ties.

The previous such feat came in the Europa League eight years ago when Sligo pulled off their greatest ever success in Europe when shocking Rosenborg 2-1 in the first leg before bowing out 4-3 on aggregate.
