Knight's stance revealed as FC in driving seat pending exemption

April 25, 2025

JOHN Cartwright has stated that Liam Knight is keen to remain at FC beyond the end of his current deal - with the two parties hoping to formalise a new contract at the club.

The Black and Whites, as first reported by Hull Live on Tuesday, are looking to tie down the prop forward into 2026 and beyond. However, as it stands, they don’t have any remaining quota spots, having signed James Bell from St Helens for next season.

To get Knight under their quota, they need the quota exemption rule on players playing in the British competitions since 2020 to be passed, allowing Bell, who first appeared for Toulouse before joining Leigh and then the Saints, to count off the quota and therefore allowing Knight to take the seventh and final spot.

The meeting on the exemption will come next week, with a verdict expected soon after. That will hopefully put Hull - whose other six quota spots are taken by Jordan Rapana, Aidan Sezer, Herman Ese'ese, Jed Cartwright, John Asiata, and Cade Cust - in a strong position to then tie down Knight, who has impressed with a series of strong performances since arriving from Australia.
