Government must do more to support people in fuel poverty

IT is extremely disappointing that the Government has publicly ruled out a U-turn on its Winter Fuel Payment cuts, after 48 hours of media reports that they were reconsidering eligibility for the scheme.

Energy costs can increase dramatically after a terminal diagnosis and every year a staggering 128,000 people across the UK - 11,224 in Yorkshire alone - die in fuel poverty, struggling to heat their homes or run vital medical equipment, during an already difficult time.
