U'KHAND MURDER: BULLDOZER DRIVER TESTIFIES ORDER CAME FROM MLA

The driver of a bulldozer that demolished part of a resort, which is owned by the son of expelled BJP leader Vinod Arya and where a 19-year-old receptionist was killed last year, has told a court that he did so on the instructions of BJP MLA Renu Bisht and the then sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Pramod Kumar, prompting the Opposition to accuse the ruling party of trying to destroy evidence in the case.

A 19-year-old woman's body was recovered from the Chilla canal in Rishikesh on September 24 last year, nearly a week after she was reported missing from Rishikesh's Vanatara resort. Pulkit Arya, the son of Vinod Arya, is among three people arrested in connection with the case for allegedly pushing her into the canal following an altercation. The victim worked as a receptionist at the resort in the Yamkeshwar area of Pauri Garhwal district. According to the police, she was allegedly murdered by the three accused for refusing to provide "extra services" to the VIP guests, which allegedly included work of a sexual nature.
