SC to Take Up Monitoring of RG Kar Probe Today

The Supreme Court will suo motu take up on Wednesday the monitoring of the investigation into the August 2024 rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, a day after the sole convict, Sanjay Roy, was awarded life in prison by the Sealdah court.
NEW DELHI:
A bench headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sanjiv Khanna last heard the matter on December 10 last year, pursuant to which it had agreed to consider the matter in March. However, the court had granted liberty to the parties in the case to mention the matter if there was any delay in the trial pending before the sessions court at Sealdah, which pronounced its final judgment on Monday.
