Banke Bihari 'toshkhana' opened for first time in 54 years on panel orders

The "toshkhana" (treasury) of Mathura's Banke Bihari temple was opened for the first time since 1971 on Saturday under the supervision of a Supreme Court-appointed high-powered committee, officials said.
The high-powered management committee was constituted by the Supreme Court in August to address longstanding issues surrounding the temple's administration and management.
During a meeting in September, the committee had agreed to open the sealed room for the first time in 54 years.
