Delhi CM attack: CCTV shows man surveying her residence

New details have emerged in the attack on Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, as August 19 CCTV footage shows the accused surveying her Shalimar Bagh residence.

The video indicates that the man conducted a recce and even recorded a clip outside the CM's private home a day before the assault, lending weight to claims that the incident was premeditated.

The attacker, identified as 41-year-old Rajesh Bhai Khimji Bhai Sakariya, hails from Rajkot, Gujarat.

He was arrested yesterday after he assaulted Gupta during her weekly Jan Sunvai (public hearing) programme at her Civil Lines residence. Police have since confirmed that Rajesh has a criminal past, with five cases registered against him at Bhaktinagar Police Station in Rajkot.

He has been acquitted in four cases, while one remains pending in court, with the next hearing scheduled for September 9.
