I don’t understand how you can score six goals against Iran and not come out full of confidence. It looked like we’d never played together before.

Gareth Southgate probably liked what happened in a weird way. After we beat Iran, all the talk was about how four at the back is the way forward.

He doesn’t want to play four at the back. Now after the USA game he will say ‘told you, it isn’t great’ and he will bring Kyle Walker back in as soon as he gets the chance – switching to a back-three.

It’s not time to panic because these results do happen at major tournaments. We drew with Algeria in 2010 and we drew with Scotland at the European Championship.
