Fans’ favourite Nico could extend stay but wants club to cash in if he does go

Gers have been so good to me.. I'd never walk out of Ibrox on a free

NICO RASKIN has told Rangers he’s open to signing a new long-term deal at Ibrox.

The Belgian international - and the club’s most prized asset - has 18 months left on his current contract.

And, with next summer's World Cup finals on the horizon, Raskin's future will come under the spotlight.

If Rangers want to cash in on the midfield ace, they would likely need to look to sell him in January or at the end of this term.

But the 24-year-old - who was bombed out of the Gers squad by previous gaffer Russell Martin — insists he would be willing to extend his stay in Glasgow.

And Raskin is adamant that, IF he does leave Ibrox, he wants the club to bank some big money.

Ahead of Rangers’ Europa League clash with Portuguese side Sporting Braga at Ibrox tonight, when asked if hed like to stay, the Belgian star said: “Yeah, obviously, I'm very happy here.

“We've got a new manager and we're trying to build something good and nice.

“We've got loads of things to do and I'm really happy here.

“I'm not deciding anything, I'm just waiting for anyone to come and talk to me.

“I'm taking it day by day and trying to give my best for the club.”

When asked how important it is to him he doesn't run his contract down to then leave Ibrox for free, Raskin was unequivocal - with the former Standard Liege star saying: “It is. I know people will think about how I left my old club but there has never been a thought about that.

“If I have to leave here, I want everybody to be happy and to leave in a good way.

“It doesn't depend on me. I'm just waiting to see what's going to happen.
